Shared Ownership

How long will I have to wait?
This is extremely hard to answer. There are many applicants interested in shared ownership on the register, but their needs, choice of area and priority are varied. We cannot say how long any applicant may have to wait.

How much rent do I pay?
This depends upon the property and the share you buy. As a rough guide, for each £1000 of property you rent, the charge would be about £1 per week. So for example, if you bought the property at £120,000 on a 50% share, the amount you would rent would be £60,000. The rent would therefore be around £60 per week.

Who is eligible for the schemes?
All schemes are open to any applicant on the register who is currently resident in the borough of Spelthorne or has 10 years previous residence in the borough. Current owners in housing need can sometimes be considered.

Who maintains the property?
You are responsible for property maintenance.
