All businesses are required by law to comply with health and safety legislation in order to protect employees and members of the public from harm. This legislation is enforced by both the Health and Safety Executive and Local Authorities.

Spelthorne Borough Council’s Environmental Health department enforce this legislation within most retail shops, catering outlets, offices, customer service businesses and warehouses within the borough. We investigate reportable accidents, take part in health and safety initiatives that involve local business and provide advice to residents, workers and businesses within the area.

The Health and Safety Executive enforces this legislation in workplaces such as factories, building sites, hospitals, schools and railways.
