National Playday in Spelthorne
Over a thousand residents came along to help celebrate National Playday at Ashford Recreation Ground on Wednesday 1 August.
The free event included sack, obstacle and hopper races as well as face painting and themed craft workshops. Young residents also had the opportunity to enjoy the paddling pools, sand pits, a bouncy castle and a special appearance by CBBC character, Shaun the Sheep.
Councillor Penny Forbes-Forsyth, Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Young People said: "This is a wonderful annual free event which we put on to encourage play for primary school children. I hope that all those who supported this event enjoyed themselves."
For more information about summer events being organised by Spelthorne Borough Council, please contact Leisure Services on 01784 446433 or email leisure@spelthorne.gov.uk
National Playday is coordinated by Play England and funded by Spelthorne Council.
