  • Acids can be taken to the Charlton Lane Community Recycling Centre. On arrival please alert a member of staff to what acids you have and they will be able to assist you in disposing of them. In no circumstance should you pour acids down the drain, even if you have diluted them.

Aerosols

  • Aerosols can be taken to the Charlton Lane Community Recycling Centre to be recycled.

Asbestos

  • Asbestos can be taken to the Charlton Lane Community Recycling Centre to be recycled. For reasons of safety please ensure that asbestos is wrapped up for depositing, i.e. in plastic sheeting. Disposal of asbestos is limited to six sheets per household per day at the Charlton Lane Community Recycling Centre.

Batteries

  • Both general household batteries and car batteries can be recycled at Charlton Lane Community Recycling Centre. Knowle Green Council Offices now also has a container for recycling household batteries, located in the reception area.

Beans

  • Beans can be put in your food waste bin.

Bed Linen

  • Can be placed in one of our Textiles banks at our bring sites located around the borough for more information and to find your nearest site please follow the link to bring sites.

Beverage Cartons

  • Beverage cartons can be taken to the Charlton Lane Community Recycling Centre to be recycled. They can also be recycled at some of our bring sites.

Bottles

  • Glass bottles, of any colour, can be put into your light green bin to be recycled. Glass bottles can also be taken to the Charlton Lane Community Recycling Centre and most local Recycling bank sites to be recycled. Plastic bottles including drink, shampoo and cleaning bottles can be put into your light green bin to be recycled . Alternatively, plastic bottles can be taken to the Charlton Lane Community Recycling Centre to be recycled.

Bottle Tops

  • Bottle tops can be put into your light green bin to be recycled .

Books

  • Books can be taken to a number of Recycling bank sites. Please clink on the link to find your nearest bring site.

Bras

  • Bras can be taken to the dedicated 'bra bank' at Charlton Lane Community Recycling Centre, please do not mix bras in with other clothes.

Bread

Bric a Brac

  • Bric a Brac can be taken to the Charlton Lane Community Recycling Centre to be recycled.

Bricks

  • Bricks can be taken to the Charlton Lane Community Recycling Centre to be recycled. The recycling centre is free to use for small amounts of waste (i.e. enough to fill the boot of a car) larger amount of waste (i.e. transported in a van or pickup truck) may incur a charge.

  • This should be placed in your dark green rubbish bin.

  • Food and drink cans (both steel and aluminium) can be put into your light green bin to be recycled . Cans can also be taken to the Charlton Lane Community Recycling Centre and most local Recycling bank sites to be recycled. Please rinse and clean cans before depositing them in the recycling.

Cardboard

  • Cardboard can be put into your light green bin to be recycled . Cardboard can also be taken to the Charlton Lane Community Recycling Centre and most local Recycling bank sites to be recycled. Please ensure that cardboard boxes are empty before disposing of them.

Carpet

  • Carpet can be taken to the Charlton Lane Community Recycling Centre to be recycled.

Charity goods

  • Any items that are in good condition can be taken to Charlton Lane Community Recycling Centre and placed in the 'Reuse' section. These items will then be sorted and sold to raise money for charities or given to charities to sell.

  • Computers can be taken to the Charlton Lane Community Recycling Centre to be recycled.

Computer Monitors

  • Computer monitors can be taken to the Charlton Lane Community Recycling Centre to be recycled.

Concrete

  • Concrete can be taken to the Charlton Lane Community Recycling Centre to be recycled. The recycling centre is free to use for small amounts of waste (i.e. enough to fill the boot of a car) larger amount of waste (i.e. transported in a van or pickup truck) may incur a charge.

Confidential Waste

  • Confidential waste that has been shredded can be put in your light green recycling bin to be recycled. Alternatively, shredded paper can be composted. For more information on composting please visit the Spelthorne Borough Council website.

  • Spelthorne Borough Council offers a weekly collection of Clinical waste/Sharps Boxes on Thursdays. To arrange a clinical waste collection please contact Streetscene by Wednesday at 12 noon to ensure you get a collection the next day. Please check the Spelthorne Borough Council website for more details.

Clocks

  • Clocks can be deposited for recycling at any one of the five Small electrical item banks , please check the Spelthorne Borough Council Website for information as to where these banks are sited.

Food Trays

  • Plastic Food trays can be put into your light green bin to be recycled. Metal food trays must be placed in you dark green rubbish bin.

Fridges and Freezers

  • Fridges and freezers can be taken to the Charlton Lane Community Recycling Centre to be recycled. Alternatively, you can contact the council to arrange for these items to be collected through a bulky waste collection service.

Furniture

  • Furniture can be taken to the Charlton Lane Community Recycling Centre to be recycled. Furniture can also be collected on our bulky waste collection. Garden Waste

  • Garden waste can be taken to the Charlton Lane Community Recycling Centre to be recycled. Please ensure that you do not dispose of garden waste in bags at the centre.
  • There is also a garden waste collection service available at the price of £45 per year. Alternatively, garden waste can be kept to be used as compost. Compost bins and information on home composting is available on Spelthorne website.

Gas Cylinders

  • Gas cylinders can be taken to the Charlton Lane Community Recycling Centre to be recycled.

Glass
