The multiplier is set for each financial year by Central Government for the whole of England. This does not apply in revaluation years when the multiplier will be adjusted to reflect changes in the overall total of rateable values for England. The multiplier for 2007/08 has been set at 44.4p (2006/2007 = 43.3p). The small business multiplier for 2006/07 has been set at 44.1p (2006/07 = 42.6p).
