Crime and Disorder Reduction Strategy 2005 - 2008

Strategy 2005-08

Spelthorne Safer Stronger Partnership (SSSP) has a statutory duty to develop a Crime and Disorder Reduction Strategy for the Borough. The strategy covers a three year period and is developed following intensive public consultation.

Our new Strategy, 2005-2008, is now available and has three key areas:
  1. Antisocial behaviour
  2. National Priority crime
  3. Feeling safe

The Strategy is being implemented by a wide range of both statutory and non-statutory agencies operating in the Borough: the Borough Council, Surrey Police and Surrey County Council working in partnership with Primary Care Trust, National Probation Service (Surrey), Surrey Fire and Rescue Service, Drug Action Team Surrey Police Authority and other partners.
Although Surrey has the lowest crime level in the country Spelthorne has the highest level of crime level in Surrey per 1000 population.  The Home Office also compare Spelthorne with a group of similar CDRPs throughout the country and our crime levels are generally average or below average in this group.  Our aim is to reduce total crime by 15.5% over the period 2005-08 in line with Government targets.

Action Plan 2006/07

Spelthorne CDRP has overall responsibility for implementation and review of the Strategy.  It does this through an annual action.  The latest action plan is for 2006/07.

Working together with its partners, the SSSP produces action plans for each year.  The action plan includes performance measures, (where possible) individual targets, baselines, timetables for action and details of which agency and individual will lead on the action.  Lead officers from partner agencies will meet quarterly to monitor performance of the plan.

It is a government requirement to have a separate Anti-social Behaviour Strategy.  This is updated every year and the 2006/07 strategy can be downloaded from the Anti-social Behaviour section.

We regularly publish updates on the latest crime reduction initiatives via both the Borough Bulletin newspaper and news releases published on this website, and welcome feedback on crime and disorder issues affecting the Borough.
