Drugs and alcohol

The drug and alcohol priority in the Crime and Disorder Reduction Strategy is led by the Surrey Drug and Alcohol Action Team.  Surrey Drug and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) is a countywide forum for tackling substance misuse. The DAAT's actions are driven by the Government's strategy, ‘Tackling Drugs to Build a Better Britain’, with the key aims of:
  • Helping young people to resist drug misuse
  • Stifling the availability of illegal drugs on our streets and protecting the community from drug-related anti-social behaviour and crime
  • Enabling people with drug problems to overcome them and live healthy, crime-free lives.
The team brings together senior officers from local agencies, including the police, probation and prison services, health and social services, education and the voluntary sector.   It manages the local "Engage" service in Spelthorne.
