Stairgate Loan Scheme
In order to reduce accidents in the home a stair gate loan scheme was set up by Spelthorne Borough Council with funding from West Surrey Health Authority in 1995. The scheme is now totally funded by Environmental Health. Stair gates are available to Spelthorne residents in `need' on the recommendation of a health visitor (limited income is one of the main, but not exclusive criteria). Nearly 200 gates have been loaned out to Spelthorne residents since the scheme was launched
