Description: All Taxi’s, Hackney Carriages and Private hire drivers and vehicles must be licensed by the Spelthorne Borough Council licensing enforcement officer before they can carry passengers for hire and reward. All operators must comply with specific regulations and drivers of all types of vehicles must pass a police check, medical and knowledge test. In addition all vehicles must meet specific criteria and safety standards. All vehicles must display a Spelthorne plate on the outside of the vehicle to the rear, as well as a small badge inside the car on the windscreen. These plates display the details of the car together with an identification number and when the plate expires. In addition all drivers must display and identity badge issued by Spelthorne Borough Council that bears the drivers photograph, licence number and when the licence expires.
