Description: Damp can cause mould on walls and furniture and make timber frames rot. Damp housing encourages the growth of mould and mites and can increase the risk of respiratory illness. Damp can be caused by a variety of things. One of the common causes is condensation. There are several ways of avoiding condensation within your property. Further information is available from Environmental Health. Damp can also be caused by leaking pipes, waste or overflows Rain seeping through roofs, through window frames or cracked pipes Rising damp due to a defective damp course or because there is no damp-course.
