Do you want to save energy and money but don't know how?  We've made energy saving easy with our energy saving tips. Make the change today!
Turning off the lights when you leave a room saves you around £26 a year.
Only boil as much water as you need. (though make sure you use enough to cover the elements in electric kettles)
Electrical appliances left on standby still use energy! Switch them off at the mains and you'll save around £37 a year.Don't leave your mobile phone, ipod, laptop charging overnight! Most mobile phones are fully charged within 2 hours.
Closing your curtains at dusk stops heat escaping through the windows. If you notice a draught from your windows and doors, you could try draught proofing them.
Fully fill up your washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher before turning them on.  Remember - one full load uses less energy than two half loads.
Reduce your heating bills by reducing room temperature. Turning down your thermostat by just 1degree Celsius typically reduces your heating bills by 10% - saving you on average £50 per year!
  • Water too hot? Check your settings - your cylinder thermostat should be set at 60C/140F
  • Re-set your timer so that heating and hot water come on only when required

Make sure you fully turn the taps off and fix any leaking taps.  Did you know?  Not only does a dripping hot water tap waste energy, but in just one week, those drips could fill half of your bath!
Switch to energy saving lightbulbs. They last upto 10 times longer than ordinary bulbs and will save you around £45 over its lifetime.
You could make a saving of £250 on your household energy bills!  To find out how much you could save, please complete a Home Energy Check (external website) and the Energy Saving Trust will give you a free, impartial energy report.
