Rubbish, and recycling Rubbish, recycling and street cleansing services are provided by Direct Services.
Environment The Environment Service is responsible for improvements to the local environment including setting out environmental policy, planning any changes to rubbish and recycling, making improvements in parks and to open spaces as well as working on sustainability issues including climate change. The service is also responsible for car parks.
Planning Development Control Advice and guidance on planning applications and related matters.
Planning Policy and Implementation Advice and guidance on planning policies, development plans and related issues.
Housing Strategy Advice on guidance on strategic housing issues and needs assessment.
Pollution Enforcing a variety of environmental protection legislation, including that relating to the control of certain industrial processes, contaminated land as well as delivering the Council's air quality strategy and action plan to reduce air pollution.
Building Control The Building Control team provides advice and guidance on building regulations, associated health and safety, the provision of disabled facilities, energy efficiency and more.
