Published 25.04.2008 14:06 Spelthorne Borough Council has received a number of calls from worried residents about the current condition of Sweeps Ditch in Staines. The Council is aware of the situation and is in regular communication with the Environment Agency to monitor events. Unfortunately there is a problem with the way the ditch is fed by the River Thames and not enough water is getting into the watercourse. Spelthorne Borough Council together with specialist water engineering contractors have come up with a scope of works it is hoped will solve the problem and reduce the chance of it happening again. Permission from the Environment Agency is required before works commence and we are awaiting the appropriate documentation. If you are still worried or would like to raise an issue with us please contact us
