Borough BulletinPublished 04.04.2011 10:05If you let out a room in your property, or your property itself for a few weeks as a short-term let during next year’s Olympics, you could earn up to £4250 tax free.It is estimated that during the Olympic Games next year about 600,000 people are expected to pass through Heathrow but London can only accommodate up to 150,000 through their existing hotels and bed and breakfast establishments. Keith McGroary the Economic Development Officer for Spelthorne Council said ‘ This is a unique economic opportunity for our residents; we want them to take every advantage that the Olympic Games presents and bring some much needed cash directly into the households of our Borough. We are right next to Heathrow and in these financially challenging times, I am determined that residents should be made aware of this means of earning much needed additional money.’If you are interested and want to know more, Spelthorne Council have provided on-line support to help guide you through the process.
