| Aims | The Council wanted to find out whether or not disabled residents felt they were discriminated against when accessing the Council’s services and what role they would like to see the Council play in combating discrimination. From December 2006, the Council will have a legal duty to actively look at ways of making sure that disabled people are treated equally. |
| Methodology | The Council commissioned Conquest Research to carry out 22 depth interviews with disabled residents, including those with physical, sensory, learning, psychiatric and neurological disabilities. |

| Additional Information | The Council will be producing its Disability Equality Scheme, including an action plan setting out what it will do to make sure disabled people are treated equally by 5 December 2006. |
