Woodland and scrub management is currently being carried out by specialist contractors at several sites in the Borough to increase their value for wildlife, including Studio’s Walk near Shepperton Studios.
This work is being funded by the Studios and will aim to increase light levels in the wood to encourage more diverse plant life on the ground, as well as providing homes for insects such as stag beetles. Many volunteer groups such as the Ash Riverside Park Association, the Spelthorne Natural History Society, the Spelthorne Tree Wardens and the Egham and Staines Conservation Volunteers also help to manage the park by holding workdays to plant trees, install bird boxes and clear litter.Equality and diversity training
Voluntary Action in Spelthorne is holding a free Equality and Diversity training day on Monday 14 March. Places are limited so if you would like to attend please contact the VAIS office on 01784 446358 or e-mail info.vais@spelthorne.gov.uk
