Best of British BrassStaines Salvation Army Band and Choir are performing at The Salvation Army Citadel, Woodthorpe Road, Ashford on Saturday 20 October 2010 starting at 7.30pm. Classical music concerts at the Riverside Arts Centre, Lower SunburySunbury and Shepperton Arts Association (SSAA) presents the second of its Winter 2010/11 season of Saturday morning coffee concerts at the Riverside Arts Centre, 59 Thames Street, Lower Sunbury, on Saturday 6 November. The concert will feature a performance by Rachel Major, soprano, who will perform a song recital including many well-known pieces and some which may be new to members of the audience. Rachel recently delighted her audience at St Nicholas Church, Shepperton, during this year’s SSAA Festival when she sang with Ashford Baroque Ensemble. Coffee and croissants will be served from 10.15am and the recital will commence at 11am. London 2012 Young Leaders programmeTen young people from Spelthorne are taking part in the London 2012 BP Young Leaders Programme which will culminate in their holding leading volunteer roles at the London 2012 Olympics. Nationwide there are 100 young people being mentored by BP managers in preparation for their involvement in the Games. Off the Hook - Saturday 13 NovemberOff the Hook is Spelthorne’s very own specialist skateboard session. It takes place at Spelthorne Leisure Centre and is for skateboarders and inline skaters aged 11 to 19.All abilities are welcome and the young people can hire skateboards and helmets. Off the Hook runs on the second Saturday of each month during the winter from 6pm to 8.30pm and costs £5.The aim of the event is to provide a safe indoor place for young people to come and practice their skills and try new tricks.
