Councillor Simon BhadyeCouncillor Simon Bhadye was elected Mayor at the Council meeting on the 22 May for the 2008/9 municipal year. Councillor Bhadye was first elected to the Council in 2003 and again in 2007 representing Ashford North and Stanwell South.
He has served on Planning, Licensing, Performance Management and Review and Spelthorne In Bloom committees. External committees include South East Employers (SEE) and governor of Ashford Park School.Councillor Bhadye has lived in Spelthorne for almost 30 years with his wife Candy and two children Anneka and Jayson. Both Simon and Candy work for the NHS, however, Simon has recently taken early retirement in order to fulfill his mayoral role.The Mayor is looking forward to meeting as many residents as possible in the community, representatives of local organisations and to numerous engagements in the forthcoming year. Besides representing and promoting the Borough on every occasion, the Mayor will use every opportunity to raise funds for local causes.Councillor Bhadye stated: “For the Mayor’s Charity Fund I have decided to raise money for “To Transplant and Beyond” – a local charity established in 2000, to give hope, encouragement and support to transplant patients, their families, friends and carers; and the Staines and Egham Sea Cadets. I also hope to support other worthy local organisations.”
