Housing for vulnerable people
Housing-related support helps vulnerable people to improve their quality of life, gain basic life skills and become as independent as possible. We support:
- the frail elderly
- people with learning/physical disabilities
- people with mental health problems
- people with substance abuse problems
- young people at risk
- homeless families with support needs
- women at risk of domestic abuse
Sometimes the housing-related support service will mean that the person has to live in a particular residential setting. The support is based on the person living in that location e.g. sheltered housing for older people with support needs; housing for young or vulnerable people.
There is also a service called ‘floating support’ which is given to the person, no matter where they live.
Housing-related support is funded through a Government programme called Supporting People (SP). The programme is managed for the whole of Surrey by the Supporting People team who are based at the offices of Elmbridge Borough Council.
