Aims
Car Parks have an important role to play in enabling access to other facilities and services. This strategy aims to encourage better use of the Council’s car parks by identifying and developing future management, promotion, maintenance and charging policies.

Overview

The strategy highlights the short and medium term issues facing the main town centres car parks in the borough and how, through a managed process, the level and quality of car parking facilities can be improved to meet the needs of shoppers, visitors and local residents. Issues identified include the need to:·

  • re-address the imbalance of usage of between car parks in Staines·
  • make car parks more accessible through the use of appropriate signage
  • introduce acceptable charging policies·
  • publicise relevant information on car parks·
  • upgrade facilities, and ·
  • work with the Police to improve security standards.

This Strategy addresses one of the Council’s four key priorities, Making Spelthorne a Better Place and its priorities reflect those of the Community Strategy and Local Plan.
