Supplementary Planning Documents
The purpose of Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) is to explain in more detail how policies in the Council’s adopted Core Strategy and Policies Development Plan Document will be applied.
Current consultation - Design of Residential Extensions and New Residential Development
A ten week consultation on a first draft of the SPD (pdf 1.62mb) ends on Monday 22 November. Any comments on the draft document should be sent to Planning Policy, Spelthorne Borough Council, Council Offices, Knowle Green, Staines TW18 1XB or email planning.policy@spelthorne.gov.uk
The Council will consult on a final draft of the SPD in February/March 2011. This will be the required statutory six week consultation.
The SPD will be considered for adoption by Full Council in April 2011.
For further information email Planning Policy or call 01784 446449.
Programme for preparing other Supplementary Planning Documents
The Council has a programme for preparing two other SPDs which was agreed in March 2010. Work on these will start in January 2011. This programme will be updated in January when further SPDs may be identified for preparation. The two SPDs currently agreed for preparation are:
- The Size of New Dwellings: this will explain the requirements of Policy HO4 for the provision of smaller dwellings in terms of the number of bedrooms provided. In particular it will give further guidance on how many 1, 2, 3 or 4 or more bedroomed dwellings are needed. It will also explain in more detail how the need for special accommodation for older people will be delivered. This document is aimed at developers, but will also help residents understand how the Council will deal with this issue.
- Infrastructure requirements: this will amplify Policies CO1 (Providing Community Facilities), CO2 (Provision of Infrastructure for New Development), CO3 (Provision of Open Space for New Development), CC2 (Sustainable Travel – including general highway requirements) and HO3 (Affordable Housing). The document will identify both specific infrastructure needs as well as general requirements where developments will be expected to make a contribution.
