Local Development Scheme (LDS)
Councils are required to prepare a Local Development Framework (LDF).  This includes a number of documents which set out planning policies for an area.  These comprise Development Plan Documents (DPDs), including a Core Strategy, and may include further documents setting out detailed policies and allocations for individual sites.  The LDF may also include Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) which amplify material in a DPD.

Programmes for preparing DPDs must be set out in a document called the Local Development Scheme (LDS).  These are no longer required to include details of SPDs.

Spelthorne Council has completed its current programme of preparing DPDs by the adoption of its Core Strategy and Policies DPD (February 2009), Allocations DPD (December 2009) and publication of its Proposals Map DPD.  It has therefore implemented the DPD programme set out in its Local Development Scheme Adopted in April 2007.

The Council now has a programme for preparing its Supplementary Planning Documents.
