How do I find out what land was used for previously (Historical Land Use Enquiry)?Land contamination is a widespread legacy of the United Kingdom's early industrialisation; caused by wide range of industrial, mining, waste disposal, and storage activities.
The Part IIA contaminated land regime requires local authorities to inspect their areas to determine if contaminated land exists. Local authorities are required to maintain a register of land identified as being contaminated under the terms of Part IIA. During the process of inspection Spelthorne will inevitably generate large amounts of information on the previous uses of land within the Borough.
For information on how to make a historical land use enquiry please visit the Work & Business section of this website
