Young people attending the free event could also take part in the various workshops including DJing, electric guitar lessons, free running, digital graffiti, MiPod and DemoPod and the famous Spelthorne i:dance dance mats. Councillor Denise Grant, Cabinet Member for Culture and Young People said: “This summer has seen a lot of free events for children and young people and Ujam is great because it really shows what a wealth of talent we have in Spelthorne and in Runnymede. There was a great atmosphere in the High Street which is good for local businesses too”. Councillor Caroline Spencer attended the event on behalf of the Mayor and said: “I am so pleased that so many young people have come along to the event. It’s a really good opportunity for people to try new things and have a great afternoon out with their friends”. The event was organised by Spelthorne and Runnymede Youth Councils working with Spelthorne and Runnymede Borough Councils and the Spelthorne Safer Stronger Partnership.
