Investigating the need for controlled parking zones in Staines
Published 02.01.2007 09:56
The Council, working in partnership with Surrey County Council is investigating the potential need for Controlled Parking Zones in Staines. The town centre is changing all the time and with the increasing number of commuters and shoppers to the centre, many residents are finding it increasingly difficult to park close to their homes.

To help us find out more about where residents and businesses are experiencing problems parking, we will be sending a brief survey asking residents and businesses what problems they have with parking and when. This survey will be sent to about 4,000 addresses in early January. All responses are anonymous and the overall results of the survey will be published on our website in the near future.

This is only the first stage of a feasibility study looking into the introduction of Controlled Parking Zones in Staines. If any proposals are recommended and agreed, a formal consultation process will begin that seeks views in the areas potentially affected.

Cllr Forsbrey, portfolio holder for Parking Services in the Borough says

"Many residents in the Borough have difficulty parking their cars close to where they live, this is an excellent opportunity for them to have their say and let the Council know what the difficulties are so that something can be done"
