Nominate your rising stars or unsung heroes for a Spelthorne Sports Award!
Published 13.03.2007 09:49
Spelthorne Sports Awards promises to be bigger and better than ever before in 2007 and your nominations are needed to ensure that the people that put so much into sport in the borough receive the recognition they deserve.

The awards are organised by Spelthorne Borough Council and Spelthorne Sports Council and are designed to celebrate the success of sport in Spelthorne. There are 13 awards up for grabs and these include awards for both young and old, teams and individuals and those who have provided an outstanding service to their sport, either through coaching, managing or running their respective clubs. The evening will also celebrate the achievements of the borough’s young sports people at the Surrey Youth Games.

Nomination forms and more information about the awards are now available and you can obtain them in a number of ways. You can download the nomination form or complete it online at www.spelthorne.gov.uk/sportsawards. Nomination forms are also available by contacting Leisure Services on 01784 446433.

The deadline for nominations is Friday 8 June and the Sports Awards take place on Wednesday 25 July at The John Crook Theatre at Halliford School in Shepperton. It promises to be the biggest and best Spelthorne Sports Awards yet, so please make sure you nominate the people you think deserve reward and recognition for their dedication. Winners from the Spelthorne Sports Awards will be put forward to the Surrey Sports Awards, which will be held in November.

Councillor Huseini Jaffer, Chairman of Spelthorne Sports Council said, ‘The Spelthorne Sports Awards act as an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the achievements of sport in Spelthorne. Many of the award winners are volunteers, giving up their time for the benefit of others and it is great to be able to reward them for the valuable work they carry out within the community. It is also fantastic to see young sports people with the potential to represent Great Britain at the London 2012 Olympic Games being recognised at these awards.’

If you have any questions or would any more information about the Spelthorne Sports Awards please contact Simon Hards, Leisure Development Officer (Sports) on 01784 446452 or email Simon Hards.
