No getting away with it

JBW Enforcement Ltd is to act as bailiffs for Spelthorne Council Parking Services by collecting unpaid parking fines.  There are some 280 outstanding fines and, despite numerous letters, these have been ignored.

Charges are made for sending letters, making visits, seizing goods for sale at auction and so can mount up if ignored. Bailiffs have very sophisticated methods of tracing people and JBW Enforcement is one of the best bailiffs in the country for tracking down and collecting these unpaid fines. The first batch of warrants will be sent to the bailiffs next week (25 June).

In the first instance the bailiff will write to the driver telling them how much money they owe and the various ways this can be paid. If there is no response then they will make a visit to the address and try to make contact with the debtor. If they have moved away, they will try and find them. The warrant is still valid even if the address is incorrect.

The bailiffs are reasonable people and want to work with the debtor to resolve the problem.

Cllr Gerry Forsbrey, Portfolio Holder for Environment, said:
”The very last thing we want to do is take people to court over a parking fine, but by the time it gets to that stage, we will have done as much as we can to collect the debt. Bailiffs are professional debt collectors and JBW Enforcement Ltd come with a very good reputation for collecting debt as well as being sympathetic to the debtors’ situation”
