The new smokefree law comes into force at 6am on 1 July, which means that it will be against the Law to smoke in virtually all enclosed and substantially enclosed public places, workplaces, public vehicles and work vehicles.  The aim of the new law is to protect employees and the public from the harmful effects of second hand smoke.

Spelthorne Council Environmental Health Service will be enforcing this legislation and have been promoting the details of the new law for several months by attending pub watch meetings, speaking to businesses, and sending out additional leaflets and signs to over 1200 businesses and community premises.

Environmental Health Officers will continue to advice and support businesses to help them to comply with the new law.
