New play area for Spelthorne Grove

Spelthorne Grove Open Space in Sunbury is the latest park in the Borough to benefit from a new state of the art children’s playground.

Councillor Denise Grant, Portfolio Holder for Children and Young People, will officially open the play area on Friday 21 December.  The opening event will be from 12-2pm.  Father Christmas will also be paying a visit and mince pies will be available.  All Residents are invited to the ceremony at the playground in Spelthorne Grove, off Staines Road West.

The new facility has been possible thanks to a Spelthorne Council’s successful bid for money from the Big Lottery Fund.  The playground was designed and constructed by Kompan plc.  The Council has worked closely with this company in the past on other playground projects.  The new playground is designed to provide a safe and challenging play environment, accessible to all.  

Cllr Denis Grant commented:

“Making sure the children in our Borough are provided for and have a safe, friendly place to play is so important.  Play is such a key part of a child’s development, in this environment, they have the opportunity to learn how to interact and communicate with other children.  I’d like to encourage as many parents as possible to bring their children along on Friday to join in with the fun and to meet Father Christmas.”
