Schools' Quiz Challenge
Published 15.05.2007 10:01
Winner of this year’s Spelthorne Schools’ Quiz was Spelthorne Junior School, Ashford, whose team included Emma Hawes, David Porter and Alex Hall, with St Ignatius Primary School in second place.

Children from 12 Spelthorne primary schools attended the quiz on 11 May, which took place in the Council Chamber. They tackled questions on a variety of topics including geography, famous faces, history and some tricky questions about Spelthorne.

The Mayor of Spelthorne, Councillor Malcolm Royer, hosted the event.  He presented the winners with a cup to keep for a year, shields and £50 of Waterstone’s bookshop vouchers sponsored by Spelthorne Council. The second place team also received shields and £25 of vouchers donated by Waterstone’s, Staines.

Cllr Royer commented:

“I was very impressed with the enthusiasm and knowledge of all of the children who took part. Congratulations to Spelthorne Junior School for coming through and being the eventual winners”.
