London-Surrey Cycle Classic

As part of the preparation for the Olympic and Paralympic Games of 2012, a series of test events will take place from this summer leading up to May 2012.

TheLondon-Surrey Cycle Classic test eventis taking place on Sunday 14 August and will pass through Surrey's boroughs along the route. This will be an opportunity to get an advance taste of London 2012 and watch world class athletes compete on some local roads completely free of charge.

This event (schedule below) is a lead up to the main events in 2012, as follows:

  • Saturday 28 July 2012 - men’s Olympic Road Race Cycling
  • Sunday 29 July 2012 - women’s Olympic Road Race Cycling
Schedule

Below is an anticipated list of timings for the test race:

  • The Mall – start 9am and finish 12:10pm
  • Fulham – 9:05am and 12:05 am
  • Putney – 9:10am and 12:00 noon
  • Richmond Park – 9:15am and 11:55am
  • Richmond – 9:20am
  • Bushy Park – 9:30am
  • Hampton Court Palace – 9:35am and 11:40am
  • Walton-on-Thames – 9:45am
  • Ripley Village – 10:05am
  • Gomshall – 10:25am
  • Westcott – 10:30am
  • Dorking – 10:35am
  • Box Hill (restricted access likely) – between 10:40am and 11:20am
  • Esher – 11:35am
  • Kingston upon Thames – 11:50am


Road closures

Road closures will take place along the route within London and Surrey. Arrangements will be made to minimise disruption for local residents and businesses.
