New Mayor and Cabinet announced

The Mayor of Spelthorne, Councillor Sam Budd

Councillor Sam Budd was elected as the Mayor of Spelthorne at the Council AGM on Thursday 26 May. Cllr Robin Sider was announced as Deputy Mayor.

First elected to the Council in 2007 representing Staines Town, Cllr Budd has served on numerous committees and was Deputy Mayor last year.

Born in 1936, Cllr Budd has owned hairdressing salons in Ashford, Staines and Maidenhead and also taught hairdressing locally.

Cllr Budd has been a member of Staines Rotary Club for 25 years and also works with Street Angels, a group of local volunteers who help people stay safe in the town centre at night. He is also a Financial Trustee for the Daybreak Day Care Centre at St. Peter’s Church in Staines.

The Mayor’s chosen charities for this year are: -

  • Spelthorne Young Voices - a community youth choir based at St Peter’s Church.
  • The Penrose Club - a social club for adults with special needs.
  • reSTORE – a food-bank project run by St Saviour’s church in Sunbury.
