Summer in Spelthorne

Spelthorne Council is holding a variety of exciting events and courses over the summer so there’s never been a better time to get out and about in the Borough. Here are just a few of the events which are coming up soon:-

Cultural Olympiad weekend – 2012 and beyond

A fun day is being held from 12-4pm on Saturday 23 July at Staines Park, Commercial Road, Staines TW18 2QJ to celebrate the Cultural Olympiad weekend. Bring a picnic and enjoy the arts, crafts, dance mats, music and much more.  

Free music concerts

Free concerts are being staged throughout the summer at the Walled Garden, Thames Street, Sunbury TW16 6AB. Performers include the Staines Lammas Band, Magna Carta Chorus and All That Jazz. Details of the concerts dates can be found in the summer events leaflet (see link below).

Summer Safe

The Summer Safe scheme is being held at Leacroft Youth Centre, Staines from 1-26 August (10am-4pm) offering a range of on-site activities and off-site trips for young people aged 11-16. The scheme costs £50 per week.  

Gleetastic

The Gleetastic summer workshop is suitable for children aged 8-16 and offers classes in drama, dance and singing, ending with a special performance for family and friends.  The workshop is being held from 25-29 July (10am-4pm) at Brooklands College in Ashford and costs £50 per child.  

Fencing for beginners

Fencing for beginners is being run from 26-28 July (12.30-2pm) at Leacroft Youth Centre in Staines for young people aged 11-19. Participants will have the opportunity to work towards the British Fencing grade 1 qualification and will also be entitled to save £10 on the membership fee for Egham Fencing Club. The courses cost £10 for the three sessions and all equipment is provided.
