Parks Police Community Support Officer
Parks Police Community Support Officer – improving safety in our parks

In a unique police/council initiative, a PCSOs has been recruited to:

  • Help reduce anti social behaviour and criminal damage in our parks
  • Provide reassurance to park users and encourage greater use of parks by all

The officers patrols both on foot and uses transport to visit all parks throughout the borough but is targeted to those areas where there are particular problems.  The PCSP work closely with the police and council to ensure that offenders are brought to justice, that all incidents including criminal damage are recorded and reported and work closely with community groups such as Friends of  Parks.

The officer is employed by the police but is jointly tasked by the police and council and has already made an impact by their visible presence and in reductions in the level of anti social behaviour particularly during summer months and in criminal damage.
