Domestic abuse Are you being frightened, hurt or abused by a partner or family member?

Help and support is available

Domestic abuse represents a quarter of all violent crime. It is actual or threatened physical, emotional, psychological or sexual abuse. It involves the use of power and control by one person over another. It occurs regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, class, sexuality, age, religion, mental or physical ability.

Slapping, punching, kicking, bruising, rape, ridicule, constant criticism, threats, manipulation, sleep deprivation, social isolation and controlling behaviour all count as abuse.
