  Neighbour disputes
 
  A neighbour dispute will typically involve only two people or families and often arises from some of the following examples.

  • Accidental actions - such as a neighbour hitting your car
  • Different lifestyles
  • Age differences
  • Misunderstandings
  • Inconsiderate parking
The above list is not exhaustive and any of these issues can be distressing and traumatic for victims.

Spelthorne’s Community Safety Team are not able to investigate reports relating to a lifestyle clash, personal disputes or those disputes in which we have no power to intervene.

We do however strongly support the use of mediation between parties to resolve different types of nuisance:
Some neighbourhood disputes however are noise based and these can be investigated by our environmental health department. Noise nuisance can include loud music, do-it-yourself, dogs barking. For more detailed information please see the Council's noise pages:
