There are a variety of organisations that offer members of the public
and businesses grants or affordable loans to encourage the improvement of premises.
These can range from increasing the level of insulation and energy saving
measures to help with installing micro-generation technologies.

Energy
Climate Energy can provide discounted home insulation. See Insulation

Action Surrey
Action Surrey offers advice to residents; schools and businesses on
how to reduce energy and water consumption. They also manage a network of trusted, local and experienced
installers who can install insulation, replace boilers and are expects in solar and other microgeneration

Renewable heat premium payment
DECC is giving money off green heaters:
- up to £1,250 in government payments available to install eco-heaters,
including biomass boilers, air and ground source heat pumps and solar thermal panels
- £15 million in total to support 25,000 installations
- applications for the scheme between 1 August 2011 and March 2012
- largely focussed on off-gas properties but money is available for some technologies
regardless of current heat provision

The Premium Payment Scheme with be run by the Energy Saving Trust. Householders
can call 0800 512 012 or visit www.energysavingtrust.org/RHPP
(external website) for more information. Grants are available on a first come first served basis:
- ground source heat pump - £1250 grant (for homes without mains
gas heating)
- biomass boiler - £950 grant (for homes without mains gas heating)
- air source heat pump - £850 grant (for homes without mains gas heating)
- solar thermal hot water panels - £300 grant (available to all households regardless
of type of heating system used)
