Spelthorne Council is not cutting services as has been incorrectly reported recently in some of the media. It has just undertaken a large-scale and arduous exercise in finding efficiency, procurement and other savings of £1.7m; has levied a 0% increase in Council Tax and is not awarding any annual pay increase to staff nor increasing councillors’ allowances. There will be no cuts in services precisely because of these painstaking efforts.
