  Overview and Scrutiny Committee

The Overview and Scrutiny Committee comprises 15 councillors.

Its role is to take a close look at council decisions and activities andcall forthe Council to be open and accountable. It examines services providedby the Council andreviews the Council's budget and policies. Scrutiny can look at, or 'call-in', decisions made by the Cabinet and recommenddecisionsare changed or reconsidered.

The Committeemay review other organisations that provide services to Spelthorne residents. Scrutiny may also review some statutory services including the National Health Service.

Scrutiny does not look at individual complaints, but looks at issues that affect a number of people.

The Overview and Scrutiny Committee is scheduled to meet four times a year on a Tuesday evening at 7.30pm. The meetings are held in the Council Chamber and are open to the public.
