Fear of Crime - Household Survey

Date	April - May 2004
Aims	This survey was carried out to help inform the Spelthorne Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership's new Crime and Disorder Reduction Strategy for 2005-2008. A separate survey of businesses was also carried out.
Methodology	The survey was carried out using a self completion postal methodology. An initial mailshot was sent to 3,500 randomly selected households across the borough, with a second copy of the survey sent to all non respondents after 3-4 weeks.
Overview	The survey included sections on respondents' perception of safety, problems in their neighbourhood, concerns about crime, experience of crime and issues surrounding crime prevention.
Response Rate	A 43% response rate was achieved
