To celebrate, the Chief Executive, Mayor, Leader of the Council, councillors and local business representatives travelled to Melun on 7 May to take part in a variety of celebratory events. These were followed by a visit to the European Parliament in Brussels on 9 May where a Charter was signed to commemorate the 20th anniversary. Everyone who took part in the trip contributed towards the costs. Thanks to generous donations by our sponsors, BP, Lotus Landscapes, Steria and Myers Catering, a special conference will also be hosted in Spelthorne in July. The event will cover economic development and regeneration, offering further opportunities for the development of business links. There will be representatives from the Japan Local Government and our other twin town, Grand Port Savanne in Mauritius.
