Electoral register - Who can register? | Electoral register - How do I register? | Electoral register | Moving house | Annual Voter Registration (canvass)

There are three main criteria you need to meet to be added to the electoral register

Age - You have to be 18 to vote but you can apply to go on the register when you are 17 so that your details are already stored should an election be called.

Nationality - Only British, Irish, Commonwealth or European Union Citizen (pdf 31kb) are entitled to register.

Residency - You need to be actually living at the address where you wish to register and not just using it as a 2nd home or postal address.  If you are a British citizen resident overseas, Crown Servant serving overseas or in the Armed Services please contact the office for further details.

Paying Council Tax - This does not automatically register you as we need every new applicant to complete their own declaration.
