Climate change - local Initiatives

The Council is positively dedicated to sustainability in general and does take the escalating effects of climate change seriously.

This commitment is translated in our corporate literature and strategies; it is also cascaded down to our policies with relevant action plans, which revolve on promoting renewable energy, energy efficiency and biodiversity issues.

The Government’s Department of Energy and Climate Change has replaced National Indicator 185 with a standardised report to enable sharing of information on Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Local Authorities own estate and operations. As a result all Local Authorities are required to upload a summary report to their websites. Spelthorne Borough Council’s report of energy usage and GHG emissions is attached to this page for reference and information. If there any questions relating to this report please contact Environment Services.
