The Rent Deposit Scheme may be able to help if you have an urgent need for housing but you do not have enough money to pay your own deposit. You will need to be assessed by our Housing Options team to make sure that you meet the strict criteria required for the scheme.

If you qualify we may be able to offer financial help with the first month's rent (rent in advance) and/or guarantee a month's deposit (a bond) for a 12 month period in place of a cash deposit. If you are eligible the amount that we agree to help you with will depend on your circumstances and our budget.

If you are entitled to Housing Benefit, the Rent Deposit Scheme staff can help you with claiming this and will make sure that you hand in all the appropriate documents so that there is no delay with processing your claim.
