Under an Article 3 Direction, planning permission is granted for certain specified types of development and this is known as “permitted development”.  This can include extensions to dwellings, extensions to industrial buildings and some changes of use of buildings.  Permitted development is subject to any relevant exception, limitation or condition.  Such rights can be excluded by a number of different ways including imposing planning conditions and by Directions restricting Permitted Development.  Please contact the Council’s Development Control Section on planning.development.control@spelthorne.gov.uk for further advice on a specific site.
