Spelthorne will operate a new fortnightly collection service of garden waste from wheelie bins for an annual charge of £35. This service will give residents an easy and convenient way to recycle their garden waste.

Is my home eligible for this service? We are keen to offer the scheme to as many residents as possible, however, there will be an initial limit of 4000 properties. The scheme also offers a bag alternative to those properties, which cannot have wheelie bins due to problems with access or obstacles.  (Bags will cost 70p each and will only be sold in multiples of 30 sacks).

How does the collection scheme work? Once you have completed and returned the order and direct debit form a brown lid wheeled bin will be delivered to you by the Council for your use.

You will also receive an annual membership sticker for you to display on your bin and information on your first and ongoing collection day.

The collection service operates on a fortnightly basis and your wheeled bin or bag must be placed kerbside by 6am  on the day of your collection.

Only garden waste contained within the wheeled bin or bag will be collected. Any lapsed membership will result in the non-collection of your garden waste container and the removal of the garden waste wheeled bin.

What will it cost? The cost for hiring and collection of the bin will be £35 per year or part thereof, should you wish to join or opt out of the scheme part way through the year the full charge of £35 will be payable.  The year will run from 1 April to 31 March.

What happens to my garden waste?  The garden waste is emptied into a dedicated vehicle and then sent to a local facility to be recycled.
