The Environmental Health Service works towards protecting and improving the health, safety and environment for people who live, work or visit Spelthorne.

Environmental Health covers a wide variety of areas which include inspecting all food businesses we enforce health and safety legislation in the service sector through inspections, and we investigate accidents and complaints about health, welfare and safety at work.

Our officer’s work with landlords, private tenants and owner-occupiers, tackling concerns about poor housing conditions and disrepair.

We investigate complaints about excessive and frequently occurring noise, and take action to deal with nuisance noise when we find it.  We regulate premises likely to pollute the atmosphere, monitor air quality, deal with contaminated land, and smoke control areas.

The Licensing team cover taxi (Hackney Carriage) and private hire, gambling, street trading and charitable collections (street, house-to-house), alcohol(person and premises) and public  entertainment.
