Are there any local adult education facilities?
Surrey County Council provides adult education services for Spelthorne.  Information on available courses, fees, enrolment centres and more can be found on Surrey’s website.

Are there any local halls for hire?
Spelthorne Borough Council hires out its village hall and day centres.  The halls that are available in the Ashford area are the Fordbridge Day Centre and St Martin’s Court Hall. Are there any play areas or parks nearby?
Spelthorne has a well-deserved reputation for the quality and horticultural excellence of its many parks, recreation grounds and open spaces which offer a variety of activities, many of which are set in grounds boasting fine floral displays, natural landscapes or both. With over 750 acres of parks and open spaces within the Borough, including several miles of riverside walks, Spelthorne is very open in character, and there are also extensive areas of club and other sports grounds.

Are there any play schemes in my area?
There are various play schemes operating through out the Borough.  Kids for life operate their holiday activity day camps on behalf of Spelthorne Borough Council and provide a wide range of activities for children aged 4-12 years.  The schemes provide children with the ideal opportunity to take part in exciting activities, socialise, make new friends and above all, have fun!

Does the Walking for Health scheme operate in my area?
The Spelthorne Walking for Health scheme is part of the National ‘Walking the way to health’.  It is an initiative of the British Heart Foundation and the Countryside Agency, with funding from the New Opportunities fund and sponsorship from KIA Cars.  The initiative aims to improve the health and fitness of more than a million people, especially those who do little exercise.  Details of the walks are available on this site.

Where is my nearest day centre?
The Fordbridge Centre in Ashford but we have a total of four day centres within the Borough, each offering a wide range of activities, social outings and holidays to help you make the most of your retirement.  The centres are open to retired residents of the borough and are completely free to joint.


All centres are open Monday-Friday 9.30am-4.30pm and welcome new customers and volunteers.
