Walking clubs

There are several walking or rambling clubs in the Borough, enabling you to enjoy walking in the Borough.

Spelthorne Ramblers
Spelthorne Ramblers welcomes walkers aged over 18 who are interested in walking locally, in Surrey, on the North Downs, the Thames Valley and the Chilterns.  At least twice a year walks are organised in interesting parts of London.

There are walks on most Sundays, covering distances between five and 10 miles. There are also walks on some Wednesdays, these start at 10.30 and are rarely more than six miles in length.  Coach walks to more distant locations are arranged, these walks usually end in a historic town and non walking family members and friends wishing to visit these towns are welcome.

Walks vary from flat and easy to more strenuous hilly walks.  Both often include lunchtime stops at pubs.

Holidays, sometime abroad, are arranged twice a year, with options for walkers including sightseeing.  These holidays are very good value based in good accommodation.

The club holds social events in the winter.

For further information please visit the club website www.spelthorneramblers.co.uk or telephone 01932 226001 for their walks programme, then join then for a couple of walks before joining the club.

Staines Ramblers

The Staines Group are members of the Ramblers Association. Membership of the group is open only to members of the “Ramblers Association“, however they welcome prospective members on a few rambles to “test the water” before joining.

For further information, look at the Staines Ramblers website.

Surrey Walks Club

The Surrey Walks Club arrange about 120 walks per year in four quarterly programmes as well as a variety of walking holidays and social events. Walks vary in length from 3.5 miles to 13 miles.

The annual subscription is £4 per person or £7 per household, but people who are interested in joining can try a few walks first.

For further information, look at the Surrey Walks Club website.
