The following are the candidates for the forthcoming By-Election:

Diane Appleby Liberal Democrat
Mark Anthony Appleyard Labour Party
Christopher Alan Browne UK Independence Party
Steven James Rough Conservative Party

The polls will be open from 7am to 10pm on 23 October and poll cards are being delivered from 27 September telling voters where they should vote.

Counting of votes will take place in the Council Offices on 23 October from close of poll at 10pm and the results will be declared during the evening.

There are approximately 5,500 voters in the Ward.

The deadline for Electors to be included in the Register to be used for this Election is 8 October. The last date for requests for a postal vote or to change or cancel an existing postal vote is 5pm also on 8 October.

The last date for new applications for electors to be able to vote on behalf of someone else (a proxy) is 5pm on 15 October.

Roberto Tambini, Returning Officer, said: “I would encourage everyone who is eligible to vote on 23 October to do so. Voters can vote in person or by post and the polls are open early and well into the evening making voting accessible to all”
